Bring You Back

Heavy song for a heavy subject.

Addiction ravages lives, not just the lives of addicts but also of the people close to them.  The helpless feeling that family and friends face, knowing that the person they love is still in there, but is walled off by their  relentless addiction. The song also tries to address the roots of addiction; isolation, depression, social pressures, bullying. It was a hard song to write.

Bring You Back

Have you ever been hungry?
Have you ever tasted poverty?
Have you ever been a saviour?
Have you ever been saved?

Cause I will never look down on you
No I won’t be the one to question you
I’ll try to help you to get on that track
I’ll try to find a way to bring you back

Have you ever felt the burning rush?
Have you ever given up on love?
Have you every really scared someone?
Have you ever been scared?

Cause I will never look down on you
But I can’t be the one to pull you through
I’ll try to help you to get on that track
I’ll try to find a way to bring you back

I remember happier days,
going for a drive
And singing at the top of our voice
Escape the bullies rage
Escape the teachers cage
Did you feel that you even had a choice?

Now I think of you alone
staring at the door
As you’re recounting every mistake
Now the walls are closing in
The past is creeping in
Apparitions taking shape

You’ve found a new way to forget your pain
But it’s a road that only has two lanes
But there’s a side of you that’s full of love
And there’s a boy you’re always thinking of
If you can see a way to come to terms
With all the anger that you can’t unlearn
I’ll try to help you to get on that track
I’ll try to find a way to bring you back
