Leaving Hope

If you drive down Highway 1 eastbound from Vancouver, just near the town of Hope, BC you will have a choice to make. There are three roads you can take.  They all go inland, away from the coast and all eventually end up on the other side of the Rocky Mountains, connecting to points beyond. The route you will take, the dangers you may face, and how fast you will get there is very different depending on the path chosen, as you leave Hope.

Highway 1, the city lights fade away
I’m on the road
I’m on the road today
Got to work it out
And get on my way
Got to work it out
And cut on through the haze

I’m leaving Hope
I’ve got decisions to make
I’m leaving Hope
Got three roads I can take
I’m leaving Hope
Leaving the city behind
I’m leaving Hope
Leaving Hope

Just past Mission, big river winding it’s way
Down from the valley
Down from the vast unknown
Got to find my place now
Not quite sure what I will need
Got to find my road now
I don’t know where it will lead

I’m leaving Hope
I’ve got decisions to make
I’m leaving Hope
Got three roads I can take
I’m leaving Hope
Leaving the city behind
I’m leaving Hope
Leaving Hope

Might go to Princeton
Where they got all the mines
Might go to Princeton
Leave my troubles behind
Might go to Princeton
Yeah, Go to Princeton

Might take the Canyon
It’s a long and winding road
Might take the canyon
Take my time and take it slow,
Might take the canyon
The Fraser Canyon

Or could take the fast road
Up and over the Coq
Could take the fast road
Just wanna get there, wanna go
Wanna go, wanna go, wanna go

I’m leaving Hope
I’ve got decisions to make
I’m leaving Hope
Got three roads I can take
I’m leaving Hope
Leaving my troubles behind
I’m leaving Hope
Leaving Hope

I’m Leaving… Hope
Cos I’m Leaving …Hope
Yeah I’m Leaving…Hope
I’m Leaving… Hope
I’m Leaving
