Is there anything more liberating and refreshing than emerging from a lake or ocean as the sun is setting on the horizon?
You spot a fire on the beach and walk over shivering and let the warmth wash over you. That’s the premise for this song. Diving down as far as your lungs will allow and then emerging and gasping for air, a rebirth of sorts.
I think this is the first (any maybe only) song I have written with sampled horns. I think it gives a bit of a nostalgic air.

Summer’s sparkling along the tops now
Of the ripples on the lake
I wade into the shadows
And take my final breathGasping for air now
The cold sets in
My lungs contracting
…I submergeWhen I need to strike my balance
When I need to test my faith
When I need to see the picture, clear
I seek the water
And submerge….Diving deep into the canyon
Of the rocks along the shore
I make my way around the corner
In search of something moreFeeling the warmth now
The sun on my skin
Into the green light
…I submergeWhen I need to feel the difference
When I start to feel the urge, mmm
When I need to clear my conscience, yeah
I seek the water
And submerge….September, lake is still now
The days begin to tire
Swimming back towards the shoreline
And heading for the fireFeeling alive now
Like never before
Rising from the water
…I emergeWhen I need to strike my balance
When I need to test my faith
When I need to see the picture, clearly
When I need to find my place
When I need to feel the difference
When I start to feel the urge, mmm
When I need to cool my engines, yeah
I seek the water
And submerge….
